Meet the X-Monster: The X-Maxx Finally Gets Real Monster Truck DNA
You asked for it, and Traxxas finally did it. The “X-Maxx MT” (Monster Truck) line—officially dubbed the X-Monster—is here, and it’s completely changing the look of the 8S platform.
1. The “MT” Tires (The Terra Groove)
This is the biggest mechanical change. The X-Monster ditches the standard Sledgehammer/Maxx AT tires for the new Terra Groove tires.
The Look: These are classic, hand-carved style Chevron patterns (like the real monster trucks from the 90s).
The Tech: They are belted (so no ballooning at 50mph) and made of an ultra-soft compound.
The Wheels: They come mounted on replica white military-style wheels with simulated planetary hubs. This is a specific “MT” look that you can’t get on the standard black-wheel X-Maxx.
2. The Retro Bodies
The “MT Line” is defined by its licensed, hard-body-style shells. Traxxas is selling these as the “X-Maxx MT” configurations:
BIGFOOT® No. 8: The heavy hitter. Deep metallic blue with the classic Ford F-150 nose.
Retro Ford F-150 & Chevy C/K: Available in box-art square body styles with roll bars and KC daylighters (molded plastic details, not just stickers).
Reinforced Cages: These bodies have a specific internal cage structure that is different from the standard X-Maxx to support the flat hoods and truck beds.
3. Compatibility
Same Guts: Underneath the fancy retro body, it is still the same 8S X-Maxx chassis, 1200XL motor, and VXL-8s ESC.
Cross-Compatible: You can sell the Terra Groove tires and White Wheels (Part #TRA7689) to guys with regular X-Maxxes who want to convert their truck to a “Monster” look.
The Verdict: Old School Cool, New School Tough
The X-Maxx has always been the king of the skate park, but with the X-Monster line, it finally looks the part. Whether you are a die-hard Bigfoot fan from the 80s or just want a truck that looks as tough as it drives, these updates are a home run.
